Apteronia is an island and it has its own interesting history to be told.

"The year 461 was unique for many reasons. It was the year that King Tregenor "The Impetuous" declared Eporedia "Pointy-ears Free City", causing a serious diplomatic incident with the elven peoples. And sparking ultimately the Stone Axe Revolt, the bloody uprising of dwarfs and halflings that ravaged the Acalian countryside for six months, and ended with the repeal of the decree.

It was also the year of the Red Moon, the astronomical event that today continues to haunt scholars and experts worldwide.

It was the year that Belinda "Weaver" Weller won her freedom in the arena after killing twenty-seven opponents in single combat, to die next month after falling down the stairs of her new home, in what would be the most absurd domestic accident in the History of Ethea.

But if by anything deserves the year 461 to be remembered, it is the discovery of Apteronia. "

 

"Even today, the motivations of Captain Hargan Stoneteeth when leading the expedition that would end up finding the new continent are widely discussed [...] supporters of the conspiracy use to say that the elves already knew about that a mythical lost land, inhabited by the fabled elven tribe of the Kala Veinsidhe, and they would have provided Stoneteeth with the necessary nautical charts, and who knows what dark and treacherous hidden objectives. […] The evidence, however, indicates that Captain Stoneteeth discovered Apteronia by chance. "

 

"News of the discovery altered the king Tregenor, who saw in that new land an opportunity for wealth and Acalian expansion, and a source of new slaves for the markets of [...] Things, however, developed very differently because Apteronia was inhabited by advanced peoples, that neither would be easy to conquer, nor would allow a rapid and dangerous Acalian expansion in their territory. "

 

“[…] It was actually a miracle they didn't annihilate the small colony of Kilmanagh during the first years [...] "

 

"[...] So that in the 463 Tregenor set up a new expedition to Apteronia, funded with all the gold plundered by taxes and border raids. An exploratory mission designed to map all possible territory and exploit potential sources of wealth by the way that the appointed regent deemed appropriate. Either diplomatic, commercial or military. [...] Other distinguished members of the expedition, as the High Priest Ruellen, notorious for his intolerance and fanaticism. Or Eoghan McPhillon, the first Acalian to explore the whole Apteronia, and one of the most respected figures among the natives (not so among his own Acalian fellows) [...] "

 

"[...] Years of hardship and endless vicissitudes that would gradually diminish until making Kilmanagh a reasonably safe place for settlers [...]".

 

"[...] All this changed in 473 when The Snake came to Apteronia in search of his father, Eoghan McPhillon. About this historical character, we don't even know if was a man or a woman, since McPhillon left in Rifton four children of both gender, and there is no record left of which of them travelled abroad. But his/her time in the colony and passage through the continent would trigger an earthquake in Acalian's diplomatic relations with the native peoples of Apteronia, which flowed into the Third War of the Dragon and the Phoenix, and the balance of power that would arise from it. “[…] Acalia grew strong against its neighbors, and soon became evident that a Golden Age was coming, the one in which we live [...] Trade soared like the shipping technique, and the import of new crops, animals and other creatures caused a [...] also new diseases arrived, such as the Garnet Disease, which epidemics decimated Eporedia for three times. Although worse off were the Apteronians, since [...] "

 

"[…] Another consequence of the discovery was the overthrow of Tregenor by his son Teugas "The Parricide" who, despite the unfortunate name that History provided for him, turned out much better ruler than his father. During his reign of nearly fifty years, he encouraged and gave shelter to Apteronian intellectuals and artists to [...] and, indeed, the Great Organizing Reform of 493, which de facto obliterated tyranny and slavery of Acalia, was directly inspired by the Apteronian city-states of the Malinor Bay League. "
